Skylake is a 1,360 acre gated community located in the historic Sautee-Nacoochee Valley which is nestled in the Appalachian foothills of northeast Georgia.
To date, over 80 percent of our 550 lots have been developed with homes. The average lot size of one acre or more, along with strict adherence to Skylake's building guidelines, helps insure a close tie with nature that is so valued by our property owners.
NOTE: if you are a Skylake property owner you can access this site by logging in. If you need assistance please contact the Skylake POA office, 706-878-2928.
Contained within Skylake are our common amenities, including a clubhouse, a community pool with cabana and sundeck, four lighted tennis courts, sheltered master barbeque area, community postal center, horse barn, maintenance barn, dedicated parking for boats, trailers and RVs, and a rustic picnic area close by our scenic York Falls. Skylake also owns and maintains 15.5 miles of private paved roadways and an independent water supply system supported by three producing wells. And of course there are our two private lakes, Sky Lake and Sautee Lake, about 20 and 10 acres respectively, that offer fishing and boating for our property owners. Scattered throughout Skylake’s 1,360 total acreage are nearly 400 acres of natural greenbelt containing over 12 miles of hiking trails maintained by a volunteer trail committee. The trails meander over varied terrain through wooded forest, open pasture, and along running streams, waterfalls and lakes. Amid the natural beauty of the dedicated greenbelt, which Skylake considers a self-designated nature preserve, one can often encounter a variety of wildlife: whitetail deer, wild turkeys, a resident flock of Canada geese, pileated woodpeckers, raccoons, foxes, hawks, grouse, and the occasional coyote and black bear.
Although the spirit of volunteerism is strong within the Skylake community, we also rely on an experienced professional staff headed by our general manager. He is assisted by two office associates and three full-time maintenance staffers. Our entrance gate is staffed 24/7 by contract personnel. The affairs of Skylake are governed by an elected nine-person Board of Directors of the Property Owners Association (POA). The board's responsibility is to insure compliance with our mandatory Covenants and Bylaws, protect and preserve our existing common property and amenities, and plan for Skylake’s future. The Board is assisted in its mission by several committees such as the Architectural Building Committee, the Natural Resource Committee, the Building and Grounds Committee, and other ad hoc committees. We are proud of our Skylake community. The character of our large heavily wooded and complex community has been maintained for more than two decades because of strict adherence to the original covenants, the on-going efforts of our property owners who are willing to volunteer their time and talents, and because of long-range planning and a dedicated staff.
