Flower Fund

Once again the Skyladies are requesting a voluntary donation of $15 from community families. The Flower Fund is used to send flowers or fruit baskets to permanent residents with prolonged illnesses, cards for the incapacitated or bereaved, and for memorials. Any money in the fund at year's end is applied to clubhouse projects. Please make your check payable to The Skyladies and drop it by the office or send it to: Dorothy Russell, 930 Woodland, Sautee, GA 30571

Welcome Wagon

Newcomers often comment on how comfortable and at home they feel in Skylake even as they are unpacking. But now it's official. The Skyladies have a "Welcome Wagon". If you are new to the community or have a new neighbor, please call Chair - Louise Kinzey (706-878-3439).

Good Neighbor Program

One of the Skyladies activities is to provide meals and any needed support to anyone in Skylake who is ill or in need of assistance.  This activity is called the Good Neighbor Program.  Everything from food to plant watering is included in this endeavor.

If you know of anyone who is ill or could use some help from our community, please call the Good Neighbor contact person listed below for your immediate neighborhood.  If your household is the one in need, please notify the Good Neighbor Section Leader as soon as your family needs some assistance.  It is very important that your area's section leader be notified to ascertain your individual needs, dietary restrictions, time frame for your need, etc. so that volunteers can be scheduled with the requested assistance you desire.

Food will be arranged in cases of hardship and when there is no family member able to help.  Meals will be delivered on an average of every other day.  It is up to the family to notify the Good Neighbor Section Leader when food is no longer needed.

Red - Woodbrier, Pinecrest, Quail Run, Deer Path and Sautee Trail to Woodbrier (second turnoff).  Section Leader:  Twila Willis 706-878-3458

Blue - Northwind, Hawks Nest, Sautee Trail north of Woodbrier, Point Blue, Blue Ridge to Sautee Trail, Falling Creek and Pine Knoll.  Section Leader:  Henrietta Taylor 706-878-0092

Lavender - Blue Ridge, Bittersweet, Cherokee Trail to Bittersweet and Indian Trail.  Section Leader:  Kathy Tanksley  706-878-2979

Yellow - Cherokee Trail above Bittersweet, Quail Point, Muir Drive and Laurelwood.  Section Leader:  Virginia Mason  706-878-1049

Pink - Meadow Lane, Woodland, Doe Run, Sweet Gum, Fawn Circle and Rock Ridge.  Section Leader:

Green - Lakepoint, Lower Gap and Grimes Nose.  Section Leader:  Barbara Beall  706-878-2952

(Please note that a color coded map is on display at the postal facility bulletin board.)

For those interested in volunteering for the Good Neighbor Program, please contact Judy Thompson at 706-878-5019.

Skylake Men's Club

The Skylake Men’s Club sponsors golf tournaments, dinners, Adopt-a-mile, and other events and projects during the year. The club donates money and time for community projects; while at the same time offering an excellent opportunity to individuals to learn more about our community, and getting to know our neighbors better.  All Skylake men are eligible and encouraged to visit and join. The cost of a lifetime membership is $5.00. Scheduled meetings are the first Wednesday of every other month starting in January with a breakfast meeting held at  8:30 AM, locations to be announced.  Become a member of this vital and productive organization.

Adopt-a-Mile  - The club sponsors and executes the road clean up once a quarter and it is looking for volunteers (women, too) to pitch in.  Meet the Trash Titans in the office parking lot at 9 a.m. on the third Thursday of January, April, July, and October.  In case of rain, the make-up is the following day.  Skylake’s mile is on the State Road 255 from mile marker 14 to mile marker 15.

Trail Crew

Maintaining 13 miles of hiking trails in Skylake is not an easy task, but our volunteer trail crew does an outstanding job. Work days are scheduled the second Monday of the month, schedules and necessary equipment are posted on the bulletin board at the post boxes. Volunteers meet at nine am in the pool parking lot. Harry Chastain is team leader and member of the NRC. Regular volunteers include Tom Aderhold, Laddie Rollins, Harvey Beall, Bob Taylor, Grannon Thompson, Craig Gottschang, Dan Neilson, Bruce Piper, Zeke Williams, Craig Inglis and Jack Bauman. All volunteers are welcome.
